Introduction
If you’re new to book nooks, choosing your first kit can feel overwhelming. Some are incredibly detailed and frustrating for beginners, while others are designed to be simple, enjoyable, and rewarding from the very first build.
In this guide, I’ll show you what makes a perfect starter model—and the exact kit I recommend if you’re just getting started.
🧩 Section 1: What Makes a Good Beginner Book Nook?
- Clear instructions
- Pre-coloured pieces (less painting)
- Minimal wiring
- Good fit quality
- Shorter build time
🏆 Section 2: The Perfect Starter Model
The Tavern in the Corner
The Tavern in the Corner Book Nook is an excellent kit for people wanting to do their first build. It is very pleasing to look at, it is a “snap & plug” kit which means that all the pieces slot into each other securely and doesn’t require glue and the quality of the wood is high compared to some other models.
It can be purchased from many sites including Amazon, Fifijoy, TEMU & AliExpress
Why it’s perfect for beginners
- Easy assembly
- Forgiving design
- Visual payoff
- Quality of the parts

Build Experience
Time to Build. Time on building kits is very subjective as it depends whether you do any personalisation but this takes around 10 hours
Difficulty Level. This is definitely one of the easier kits to build as it is a snap and click rather than glue based. One of your first kits

Even though the background bottles are 2D once you have the front on they are very realistic. There are a couple of pieces which you need to glue and I would definitely recommend B7000 glue from Amazon. Never be tempted to use super glue on any model. As they get more complex you sometimes need to take pieces apart. This is impossible with super glue, I learnt on my firt kit! B7000 is very forgiving and has at least a 5 minute setting time; even if you realise much later you can gently separate and the wood doesn’t break (depending on the quality of the kit).
Lighting
Lighting is at the core of most kits. Some models have 15+ individual LEDs with bare wires. This model is one again very good as there are only 4 LEDs which all sit in the roof panel. These all have connectors which go into the battery compartment. Take note of the length of the light leads though as the right ones needs to go into the right position and this is calculated on distance from the controller.
