This Count Dracula frame nook is made primarily of printed MDF. The manual is in colour and easy to follow. The pieces are easy to remove and overall they fit in their positions well. There is limited use of acrylic and stickers. There is one resin skull pile and they include a bag of cobwebs for use sparingly.

Overall VerdictA very fun horror-themed frame nook with strong display appeal

Construction and Assembly

The construction is straight forward but the coffin lid placement was not clear in the instructions. I ended up using a scrap piece of wood to hold the lid open to appear as if Dracula is opening it.

The overall build process is simple and beginner friendly, with the printed MDF parts fitting together cleanly and requiring very little adjustment during assembly.

The gothic theme carries throughout the construction, with the skull pile, fireplace and cobweb details helping create a classic haunted atmosphere without making the build overly complicated.

Lighting and Electronics

The electronics kit is a four LED setup. They provide a static red LED for the fireplace and I swapped it out with a yellow and a red flickering LED to give the fireplace a more authentic appearance.

The lighting modification works extremely well and adds a much more natural fire effect to the finished scene.

The kit is USB powered and has a control switch on the cord. It allows for power, dimming and switching between four channels:

  • “outside” lights
  • ceiling light
  • fireplace
  • all lights

I would have preferred a battery option as the cord is rather long hanging out of the frame which will be awkward if wall mounted.

Customization Potential

This kit does lend itself to modifications to create additional haunted building and Halloween builds with ease.

The Dracula theme gives builders a lot of flexibility for extra weathering, lighting upgrades, additional gothic decorations or even expanding the frame into a larger haunted street or castle display.

The included cobweb material also helps enhance the atmosphere while still leaving plenty of room for personal touches.

Final Impressions

The build took about six hours and I must say that of all the frame nooks I have done so far, this is my favourite.

This is a high beginner to intermediate level build and is a very fun kit if this is your theme.

I would highly recommend for any collection.
