First Impressions
The Mellow Pub immediately stands out as an extremely sturdy and well-designed miniature project.
The kit represents a small Asian-style street market pub packed with layered signage, shelves, bottles and atmospheric details. Although unbranded, the overall quality feels surprisingly high and the finished scene has a very polished appearance once assembled.
The entire structure is made from printed MDF, or possibly high-density fiberboard, with paper only being used on a door and a window detail.
Right from the beginning the kit feels solid and precise rather than delicate or flimsy.
Build Quality and Construction

One of the strongest aspects of this kit is how well the pieces fit together.
All parts removed very easily from their boards and almost every connection point was extremely snug. Given the huge number of tiny bottles and decorative details included throughout the pub interior, this actually became a major advantage during assembly because very little movement occurred once installed.
That said, my thumb was definitely feeling the pressure by the end of the build from repeatedly pushing pieces into place.
The snug tolerances also meant glue usage was minimal throughout most of the project. Apart from layered signs and a few decorative pieces, the build relies largely on tight-fitting assembly rather than adhesive.
That always makes a project feel cleaner and more satisfying to construct.
Instructions
The instructions are printed in full color and were simple to follow throughout the build.
I did miss a couple of pieces during assembly and had to backtrack slightly later on, but that was entirely my own fault rather than an issue with the instructions themselves.
Overall, the guide layout was clear and beginner friendly.
Lighting System

The lighting system is straightforward but very effective for this type of miniature nook.
The kit includes:
- two LED bulbs
- touch control panel
- pre-assembled wiring system
- battery compartment for 2 AAA batteries
One thing I particularly liked is that the entire lighting setup already arrives assembled inside the box. There is no need to dismantle or rebuild the electronics during construction, which makes the installation process much less stressful than many other kits.
The designers also included clever slot channels within the wooden structure that securely hold the bulbs in place while still allowing the surrounding panels to sit flush.
The final lighting level is warm and balanced, giving the pub a very cozy atmosphere once illuminated.
Print Quality
The print quality throughout this build is genuinely impressive.
All pieces were:
- sharply printed
- highly detailed
- correctly aligned
- and cut cleanly within their printed borders
That level of consistency helps the finished project look far more premium than many unbranded kits usually do.
The combination of:
- layered signs
- tiny bottles
- shelving
- lanterns
- and warm lighting
creates a really attractive final display despite the relatively compact size of the build.
Difficulty and Build Experience
The Mellow Pub contains 222 pieces and took approximately four hours to complete.
The box rates the difficulty at:
3/5 stars
and I would agree with that assessment.
This feels like a high beginner-level kit:
- accessible for newer builders
- but still detailed enough to remain interesting for experienced hobbyists
The snug fit of some smaller components may occasionally frustrate complete beginners, but overall the construction process remains very enjoyable and straightforward.
Final Thoughts

The Mellow Pub turned out to be one of my favorite Asian-inspired miniature builds so far.
Despite being unbranded and available from multiple suppliers, the quality is genuinely impressive:
- sturdy construction
- excellent print quality
- strong fitting tolerances
- simple but effective lighting
- and a wonderfully atmospheric final display
It also manages to avoid feeling overly complicated while still delivering enough detail to remain satisfying throughout the build.
For anyone looking for:
- a compact mini nook
- an Asian street market aesthetic
- or a relaxing high-beginner project
this is an easy kit to recommend.
A fun build with a lovely finished result.
