I shook my head.
“No… far worse.”

She leaned forward.
“Go on…”

“I’m addicted to book nooks.”

She paused. Blinked. Then stared at me and said…

Nobody plans a collection.

You buy your first kit thinking:

“Mine’s only at 7… with 3 on the way.”

And that’s when it hits you…

“The 100+ Club”

Then come the serious numbers.

The ones that make you pause… and then feel strangely reassured.

“I counted mine yesterday… I have 123 waiting their turn.”

“I’ve got about 170… (retirement planning).”

“52 stashed away and one on the way.”

“51 with 9 en-route 🤦🏻‍♂️”

“About 66… probably double that now.”

And my personal favourite:

“17 kits were delivered while I was away for a month… I’d only bought 4.”

At this point, we’re not talking about a hobby anymore.

😂 Storage Becomes a Strategy Game

“Storage Problems Begin”

One of the most relatable parts?

Where people are actually keeping these things.

“I’ve emptied a closet… but there are still more in the dining room.”

“Five boxes are stored elsewhere… and two are on the way.”

“Multiple hiding spots 😅”

“My stash is all over the place because I ran out of room…”

And then there’s this absolute gem:

“I rearrange them like Tetris because my husband said I can’t buy more if they don’t fit in the bookcase… so I HAVE to make them fit 😆”

This is the moment you realise:

What really stood out wasn’t just the volume…

It was the way people engage with the hobby.

One builder said:

“I heavily customise my kits to fit a storytelling narrative… I even write notes so everything fits into my world.”

And that’s the difference.

These aren’t just kits.

They’re:

• miniature worlds
• ongoing stories
• creative outlets

The stash isn’t just a backlog…

Early Stage Denial

Not everyone jumps straight to 100+ kits (yet).

Some are still in what we’ll politely call… early-stage acceptance:

“I have 2… and one on the way 😅”

“One I’m working on and one in my stash… hoping for more soon.”

“I have zero.”

(We’ll check back in with that last one in a few months…)

Some comments didn’t even try to justify it:

“You really want me to unpack closets? 🤪”

“I’m not looking haha 😂”

“I think I hear ICE at my door!!!!”

“Here is the duplicate pile 😂”

At this point, the community isn’t denying anything.

They’re embracing it.

I started with one kit.

Now?

I’ve got a backlog that would probably take me a year to finish…

…and I’m still browsing for the next one.
