The Tavern in the Corner
The Tavern in the Corner Book Nook is an excellent kit for people wanting to do their first build. It is very pleasing to look at, it is a “plug and play” kit which means that all the pieces slot into each other securely and doesn’t require glue and the quality of the wood is high compared to some other models.
Quality of the parts

This photo shows the quality of a barrel. There are 24 individual pieces for one barrel which slot into each other with a satisfying click, Most book nooks consist of modules parts which you build up and then add the first assembly onto the main board

Even though the background bottles are 2D once you have the front on they are very realistic. There are a couple of pieces which you need to glue and I would definitely recommend B7000 glue from Amazon. Never be tempted to use super glue on any model. As they get more complex you sometimes need to take pieces apart. This is impossible with super glue, I learnt on my firt kit! B7000 is very forgiving and has at least a 5 minute setting time; even if you realise much later you can gently separate and the wood doesn’t break (depending on the quality of the kit).
Lighting
Lighting is at the core of most kits. Some models have 15+ individual LEDs with bare wires. This model is one again very good as there are only 4 LEDs which all sit in the roof panel. These all have connectors which go into the battery compartment. Take note of the length of the light leads though as the right ones needs to go into the right position and this is calculated on distance from the controller.

Final review & recommendation
Even as an experienced modeller I loved doing this kit for a bit of relaxation. Now to the real world of buying Book Nooks. I got “The Tavern in the Corner” from HiNooki and the cost currently is £44.91 (UK). Because I want to use some of the parts on a custom build I found the same kit on Temu and the cost is £21.77. However on these global market sites sometimes there are much cheaper reproductions. I will discuss these sites in more detail in another blog. For a first kit I would definitely recommend buying from the producer rather than a marketplace. The predicted build time is around 4 hours but before you start read through the whole manual thoroughly and then enjoy
