A very useful tool for all purposes including drilling, polishing and cutting. Not needed for standard book nooks but essential for customs builds

Mini electric screwdriver

On some of the advanced book nooks you have to attach tiny hinges to allow doors to open. The screws are about 5mm and without a tool very difficult. This screwdriver is perfect as all the heads are magnetised allowing the tiny screw to be held in the exact position.

Soldering Iron

Most probably a little excessive for most basic modellers. I have used this for joining 10+ LEDs to power source but there are alternative sources. This will mainly be used for bending planking on a wooden ship

Set square

Once you move onto the more advanced kits then a lot of the building infrastructure needs gluing rather than having a slot. Alignment is critical. A 1mm drift means that the next storey will not fit exactly! These set squares are brilliant as not only do they create a perfect 90Β° angle but they are heavy and have a wide base so the wall can rest on them.

Very useful for touching up connection joints

As mentioned in another post, if you want a perfect look to your kit then this sample pot is great for touching up pieces of furniture.
